Al Saadah Art Gallery is the physical embodiment of a dream – the dream of Ohan Balian to celebrate and continue the creative tiling artistry for which his family, particularly his latemother, are so well known. He dreams of sharing his love of this ancient artwork with the population of Abu Dhabi and visitors.

The history of the Balian family ceramic craftwork can be traced all the way back to the 16thCentury with the family’s most high-profile commission being work on the iconic Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. After evolving the artwork with vibrant colors and fresh techniques, Ohan’s mother Marie Balian and her work have been immortalized at the revered Smithsonian and V&A institutions.

The Al Saadah Art Gallery features ceramic artwork fired in an onsite kiln and created by Ohan following techniques passed down to him by his family. As well as a chance to learn about this fascinating art form, visitors will also enjoy the opportunity to try their hand at tile painting and take home their very own colorful artwork under the instruction of expert teachers including Ohan and the gallery’s highly capable and creative staff.
